JOB TITLE: Classroom Paraprofessional
REPORTS TO: Primarily the teacher to whom the aide is assigned or the building principal
SUPERVISES:
WORKS WITH: Teachers, Paraprofessionals, students, parents and other staff
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalency; experience with children and other child oriented training preferred
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT AND HOURS OF DUTY: School calendar term or as assigned at time of employment or as amended. Hours flexible but not to exceed 7 and ½ hours per day with morning and afternoon break and a ½ hour lunch break. Breaks will be pro-rated for shorter contract hours of duty.
JOB SUMMARY: Works directly with the classroom teacher to provide clerical and instructional support of the teacher.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Works with student in association with and other the direct supervision of the classroom teacher or principal
- May assist with one-to-one tutoring, small group follow-up work with students
- Provides lunchroom supervision and assistance and playground supervision as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Must be able to sit, stand, and walk without fatigue and discomfort. Must be able to lift 25 pounds and push or pull 50 pounds.
EVNIRONMENTAL DEMANDS: Must be able to work in and out doors as necessary to complete the job as required.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be determined in accordance with provisions of the evaluation policy and procedures of the board of education.
