The Lincoln Heritage Council is committed to overcoming all obstacles that prevent youth from joining Scouting and through these Outreach programs delivering a fun and exciting program that will deliver skills, memories, and experiences that can last a lifetime.
Location: Multiple locations in and around the Louisville metro area and the surrounding area.
Responsibilities: The program specialist is a hands-on position that is responsible for implementing and supervising the Scouting program in an after-school or club setting. In conjunction with our partner organizations, program specialists will work directly with our youth members to teach them life skills including physical fitness, environmental conservation, active citizenship, and STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) awareness. Programs take place in public schools, housing communities, community centers, churches, and other locations. Necessary training is provided for all positions.
The Program Specialist selected will:
- Prepare and deliver a weekly program plan that encourages participation, advancement, and fun.
- Have a willingness to learn and deliver weekly program content.
- Complete Youth Protection Training and basic online training for assigned programs (Cub Scouts & Scouts BSA).
- Attend quarterly field trips or outings with assigned Scouting programs.
- Assist all youth with earning advancements.
- Meet weekly with staff leader to review progress and for supplemental training.
Qualifications/Desired Skills:
- 21 years old
- Valid driver’s license
- Reliable transportation required.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willing and desire to work with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work in a team as well as independently.
- Ability to perform moderate physical labor.
- Be dependable, organized, and flexible.
Benefits:
This is a part-time position offering up to 20 hours per week at a rate of $20 per hour.
The program specialist is provided Scout Uniform and Scouting polo shirt to wear at weekly meetings.
