Position Summary - Special Education Instructor
Responsible for management of students Individual Education Plan's, testing related to the IEP's, facilitating IEP meetings with staff and parents, and coordinating appropriate services. Instructionally, this position will entail teaching resource learning classes and possibly in a co-taught setting.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- To write accurate and legally defensible Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for eligible students.
- To facilitate IEP meetings and Initial/Triennial SPED Staffings for case-managed students.
- To be part of an IEP team to make special education eligibility decisions as a result of focused, yet thorough assessment practices.
- To use achievement and/or behavioral data to inform instructional or programmatic decisions.
- To implement continuous system of evaluations and progress monitoring for students.
- To display a thorough knowledge of the subject matter and the District's curriculum and Instructional Model
- To employ competency-based expectations for student growth and achievement.
- To plan instruction consistent with the District's curriculum for assigned subject areas/grade levels and to adjust for student differences to meet their needs.
- To participate in state and locally required professional development.
- To perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Position Summary - Instructional Coach
Responsible for coaching educators and teams to improve outcomes for students by providing job-embedded professional development that is differentiated, collaborative, and reflective. Responsibilities include collaborating with teams and PLC/data groups to implement School Improvement Plans; partner with educators to sustain implementation of the Standards Based Teaching and Learning Framework (SBTLF); and, partnering with educators so that students meet or exceed Colorado Academic Standards.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Support educators in all areas of classroom instruction and environment, including instructional strategies, student engagement strategies, classroom management, and curriculum, and, partner to engage in instructional coaching cycles.
- Provide organized, individual, and/or group learning opportunities.
- Design, coach, and provide support for educators to: 1.) Develop instruction aligned with district and state standards. 2.) Design assessments tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways. 3.) Use data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
- Facilitate and participate in building PLCs/teams and provide research, tools, and resources to support school MTSS and other student support efforts to improve student outcomes.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
- Collaborate: 1.) With teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes. 2.) With instructional coaches and other district staff.
- Demonstrate a commitment to: 1.) Understand, appreciate, and make accommodations for student diversity. 2.) Include and engage families in the student’s education. 3.) Position Summary - Interventionist
Responsible for instructing students to develop proficient skills that will contribute to their academic growth in appropriate subject areas in coordination with current curriculum and within the framework of district and state content standards. Work with teachers to design methods of learning that are most appropriate for each student, by addressing the specific needs of a particular student through intensive learning sessions.
Essential Functions / Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, prepare, and implement: 1.) Intervention strategies, format structure, and schedule. 2.) Individualized programs of instruction for students. 3.) Classroom materials and curriculum. 4.) Lesson plans and learning activities.
- Instruct students in large, small, and one-on-one situations.
- Administer, edit, proofread, and grade students’ assignments and assessments.
- Create a classroom environment that maximizes instructional opportunity, supervise the behavior and wellbeing of students in the classroom and all educational settings, and administer discipline when appropriate.
- Assist teachers with diagnosing intervention needs and coordinate lesson plans detailing methods and materials. Design assessment tasks that allow students to demonstrate understanding in a variety of ways and use the data to give meaningful feedback and modify instruction.
- Monitor student growth and progress, adapt support as needed, and maintain documentation pertinent to academic, social, and emotional progress and needs of students.
- Consult frequently with classroom teachers on students’ progress. Communicate students’ progress, and needs with parents/guardians and other staff as needed.
- Collaborate: 1.) With teachers, support personnel, administrators, and colleagues to enhance instruction and improve student outcomes. 2.) With colleagues in team and building-based meetings and discussions.

Education & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate Special Education endorsements.
- Alternative education and blended learning experience preferred but not required.
- Is knowledgeable and can apply research-based curriculum and intervention for students based on their needs.
- Understands the IEP development and implementation process.
- Demonstrates competency in student evaluation and assessment.
- Has thorough understanding and application of curriculum modifications and accommodations in an inclusive environment.
- More than three years of classroom experience required.
- Instructional coaching and/or leadership experiences at school or district level preferred.
Salary : $55,000 - $66,200
