- In this position you will be responsible for :
- Bring patients to exam rooms, take and record patient vitals
- Prepare patient for medical examinations and procedures
- Assist providers with minor surgical procedures
- Prepare and perform waived laboratory testing in accordance with procedure and manufacturer’s instructions.
- Perform treadmills, pulmonary function studies, EKG’s, hearing and vision screening
- Perform phlebotomy, give injections, and other invasive procedures within the scope of license.
- Discuss with provider the progress of patients and how to proceed with care.
- Provide various treatments as recommended by the provider.
- Enter patient information in the EMR, such as social history, diagnosis, treatment changes and medication history.
- Obtain referrals and insurance authorizations when necessary
- Properly chart information regarding patient, including progress, ailments, medications, symptoms, and observations.
- Accept, log, and assess patient calls; report to physician and return calls as necessary.
- Orders medical and business supplies, inventories and keeps necessary supplies on hand
- Assist other medical assistants as necessary with patient flow.
- Job Requirements :
- Education :
- Graduate from an accredited MA-C school / program
- Experience :
- Medical clinic setting preferred; Working knowledge of insurance coding, ICD (and CPT codes)
- Licenses / Certifications / Registrations :
- Current Medical Assistant-Certified license in the State of Washington, Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Required :
- Ability and willingness to demonstrate and maintain clinical competency as required for the unit / area(s) of assignment; Excellent communication skills to include oral comprehension / expression and written comprehension / expression; Ability and willingness to work with patients’ growth and development needs particularly related to the age of patient; Ability to manage a chaotic work environment related to changing patient needs; Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect); Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with principles for service excellence; Knowledge about professional scope of practice; Ability and willingness to work within professional scope of practice.
