Description
Responsible for assisting the networking team with the administration of the County's IT Network environment. Primary duties will involve support and maintenance of the County’s Cisco phone system, including management of the E911 Database, Analog Lines, and Faxing. Position will be part of a team that is responsible for designing and developing scalable, maintainable, and highly available network architectures that meet business objectives. Position will implement, maintain, and support our growing network infrastructure. Work is performed under supervision of the Chief of IT Infrastructure or lead Network Engineer.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or a related field with 1 year of documented experience with VoIP, video, and data networks and a current networking certification; or any equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Thorough understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model.
General understanding and experience with network monitoring, diagnostic and analytics tools.
Working knowledge of the following: VLAN, Cisco Wireless, Remote access VPNs, Site-to-Site VPNs, Port Channels, Port Security, Access Control Lists, RADIUS, VTP (VLAN Trunk Protocol), NAT (Network Address Translation), PAT (Port Address Translation), QoS, H323, SIP, SSH, PRI and SIP Trunking, PEAP, and DNS.
Supplemental Information
Requires an acceptable criminal background investigation, including an acceptable applicant fingerprint check required by the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Services Security Policy.
This position is considered an Essential Position (County designation as ALPHA) which requires the employee to report to work during inclement and extreme weather conditions, often outside normally scheduled work hours, or as notified by a supervisor.
DMV records and criminal background checks conducted prior to employment.
Physical Demands
Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment including computers, plotters, printers, copiers, etc. Must be able to lift and install, UPS, firewalls, routers, switches, etc., and be able to move objects weighing up to 55 pounds as needed. Must be able to climb ladders and work in ceiling and crawl spaces.
