Join LLCC’s Police Department today to make a difference in our community! Our Police Officers provide campus-wide police protection for all college patrons and property. This includes, but is not limited to, quick response and leadership in all emergency situations, the detection and investigation of criminal activities, the carrying out of the Department’s comprehensive traffic enforcement program, providing back-up and assistance to LLCC’s Community Service Officers, and to always undertake duties in such a way as to bring honor and respect to the Department and Lincoln Land Community College, thus contributing to the quality of college life.

Required Qualifications
ONLY LATERAL TRANSFERS ARE BEING ACCEPTED AT THIS TIME. The pre-interview written and physical examination shall be waived for a lateral transfer. All other standards for hire delineated in Lincoln Land Community College’s hiring procedures shall apply. Applicants who meet ALL of the following requirements will be considered “lateral transfers”:
- Currently employed or been employed within the previous one (1) year as a Deputy Sheriff, Municipal Police Officer or any other Law Enforcement Officer;
- Applicants in good standing with their department as of the date of selection for hire or applicants who parted previous employment in good standing within the previous one (1) year of the date of selection for hire with Lincoln Land Community College Police Department;
- Applicants who have two years of full-time employment, continuous law enforcement service with a single department as a full-time sworn officer, authorized to make arrest and carry a fire arm;
- Applicants who have successfully completed the full-time Illinois Basic Police Officer Training OR successfully complete the Basic Police Officer Training Program from another state which can be transferred and accepted by Illinois State Training Board.
Additional Requirements
- Must meet criteria outlined in the Illinois Public Community College Act (110ILCS 805/3-42.1), “…no person may be appointed hereunder unless the person is at least 21 years of age and possesses a high school diploma or equivalent. No person appointed to or retained in the security department unless that person is of good character and not a habitual drunkard, gambler or a person convicted of a felony or a crime involving moral turpitude.”
- Possess a valid Illinois Driver’s License and a valid FOID card at the time of hire.
- Must be currently certified as a Police Officer by the Illinois Law Enforcement Training and Standards Board or eligible for a waiver.
Employment is contingent on the successful completion of a oral interview, detailed background check and investigation, physical exam, drug test, and psychological exam.

Physical Requirements
- Extended periods of standing, sitting, walking or running.
- Lifting up to 50 lbs from floor to waist. * Ability to carry or drag up to 20 lbs. Ability to push or pull up to 500 lbs (using 50 lbs of force).
- Extended periods of reaching, stooping, crouching or crawling.
- Extended periods of time climbing ladders or stairs.
- Required ability to grip and hold item.
Position Salary
Starting salary for lateral transfer will be between $54,798 - $58,000 per year with an excellent benefits package.
