Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a dedicated and passionate High School English Language Arts (ELA) Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic about making a positive impact in urban communities and will have a strong background in English literature, writing instruction, and language arts education, with the ability to engage and inspire high school students in the study of English language and literature.
Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Development and Instruction:
- Develop and implement engaging and rigorous ELA lesson plans aligned with state standards and school curriculum guidelines
- Foster a love for literature and language through the exploration of diverse texts and genres
- Provide explicit instruction in writing skills, including grammar, composition, and analytical writing
- Guide students in developing strong written communication skills across various genres and formats
- Facilitate critical thinking and literary analysis through class discussions, close reading activities, and interpretation of texts
- Encourage students to explore themes, motifs, and historical contexts within literature
- Implement formative and summative assessments to evaluate student progress and mastery of ELA concepts
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to students on their writing assignments and literary analyses
- Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with varying academic abilities and learning styles
- Provide accommodations and modifications as needed to support student learning
- Establish and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, collaboration, and academic engagement
- Implement effective classroom management strategies to address behavioral expectations and maintain a productive learning environment
- Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field
- Pennsylvania teaching certification in English 712
- Previous experience teaching high school English language arts preferred
- Strong knowledge of English literature, writing instruction, and language arts curriculum
- Clearances: FBI fingerprints, PA state background check, child abuse history clearance, and a physical examination
