What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Teacher position at Lincoln Learning Preschool & Daycare?
**Low teacher-child ratio (2 teachers for 8 children total)
**Located right near highway (near CCRI Lincoln)
We need a substitute teacher who can cover planned absences with at least 4 weeks' notice. Occasionally, we may also need coverage for unexpected absences, typically notified the night before to allow time for planning.
Job Tasks
- Supervises and ensures the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Assists the classroom teacher in daily activities (preparing crafts for the day, setting up snacks/lunches)
- Responsible for keeping the classroom, staff room, and bathrooms neat and clean each day
- Assisting with washing children's hands, going to the bathroom or diaper changes
- Is familiar with and follows school policies and DHS Regulations.
- Keeps lead teacher and director informed of any concerns regarding children and program as well as any supplies that may be needed
- Reports to director any cases of suspected child abuse/neglect
- Maintains confidentiality and is committed to the children in her care
- Has a neat appearance, a positive attitude, and is dependable
- Organizes outdoor area after each use

Job Qualifications:
- At least 1 year working with children in this age group.
- At least 1 year working in an early learning/child care setting (preferred).
- Previously completed Early Childhood Professional Development (preferred).
Job Requirements:
- College credits, Associate's degree, or higher in Early Childhood Education or related field
- Able to read, write, speak, and understand English (Bilingual encouraged to apply).
- Pediatric CPR/First Aid Certified (Can be completed shortly after job offer).
- Experience working with children in a childcare setting with toddler/preschool age.
- Would need to complete 6 hrs of Professional Development each year.
- Must pass national criminal background/fingerprint check
- Must pass Dep of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) Clearance Request (CPS)
Physical Requirements:
- Able to engage in physical exercise with children (walking, running, crawling, bending, twisting).
- Visual and hearing acuity
- Able to lift up to 40 pounds
Salary
Depending on education and experience.
Possible Hours (ON CALL)With planned absences you will have at least 4 weeks' notice. Occasionally, we may also need coverage for unexpected absences, typically notified the night before to allow time for planning.
We are open 7:30am-5pm M-F. We provide 8hr shifts but in some cases we can be flexible and allow shorter shifts if needed, as long as you are transparent and let us know in advance so we are able to find coverage for the remainder of the shift.
