Performs routine manual work in connection with the care and maintenance of public buildings and grounds; also performs other related work as required. |

Responsibilities |
• Cleans rooms, furniture, washroom and toilets. • Polishes furniture, floors and metal work. • Washes woodwork, walls, windows, venetian blinds, lockers, and floors; cleans tables and sinks. • Refills and cleans water bubblers. • Does minor painting work. • Collects and disposes of refuse; shovels snow. • Receives and gives receipts for all goods delivered to the building. • Secures buildings at end of day. • Moves and sets up furniture for day or evening activities. • Replaces light bulbs and performs minor repairs. • Performs preventive maintenance functions to buildings, equipment and systems. • Maintains supplies and equipment as required. • Maintains cleanliness of grounds. • Clears debris from roofs and roof drains. • Checks operation of building equipment to ensure normal operation. • Performs lunch duties, i.e. setting up/breaking down tables, cleaning cafeteria and kitchen floors and floor mats, cleaning kitchen hoods and hood filters. • Performs all work in accordance with school safety standards. • Reports major repair or building operation system's problems to the Facilities Director. • Performs other duties as requested by the Facilities Director and/or Principal within the scope of custodial functions. |
Qualifications |
• Completion of high school education or equivalent education and/or experience. • General knowledge of cleaning materials and methods. Ability to perform moderately heavy manual labor. Skill below mechanical level in performing preventive maintenance on plant and equipment. • A physical examination by a licensed Medical Doctor is required as a condition of employment. • Must be able to lift fifty (50) pounds to a height of 60 inches above the floor. |
