Title: School Counselor (1.0 FTE)
Position Summary: Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School seeks a qualified School Counselor. The School Counselor is a member of a house team and is responsible for supporting a caseload of around 200 students for academic, social-emotional, and post-secondary planning. The counselor will oversee and run meetings to determine eligibility for a 504 plan, and update 504 plans as needed. School counselors may also participate in IEP meetings for those students on their caseload. Additionally, all school counselors will support curriculum development for grade-level counseling seminars, and lead grade-level seminars throughout the school year.
Duties and Responsibilities (Not limited to):
*Works in partnership with other members of their house team (Associate Principal, two school counselors, clinical counselor, nurse, and other key stakeholders)
*Provides academic, career/college and personal counseling to students in grades 9-12
*Serves as a positive and collaborative member of the LS community
*Pursues professional development and growth opportunities both in- and outside of school
*Collaborates with other LS educators, as well as outside collaterals, to support student learning
*Ongoing communication and collaboration with parents/caretakers
*Attends to all other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
*Master’s degree required from an accredited college or university
*Licensed, or eligible for licensure as School Counselor 5-12 by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary & Secondary Education
Experience Preferred:
*3 years educational teaching environment preferred
*High School experience preferred
*Experience with SCOIR or other comparable post-secondary planning tools
Additional Qualifications:
*Strong knowledge of the developmental needs and challenges of high school students
*Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills
*Proficiency in current technology
*Ability to work in partnership with other members of the professional community
