Purpose:

The Content Developer for LUOnline is responsible for supporting the Coordinator of LUOnline in their oversight of the University's Learning Management System and its users. The role is multifaceted with the individual expected to be able to integrate technology, pedagogy, and design into an easily engaged framework for students and faculty. These efforts will require the ability to work with a variety of academic and nonacademic areas as they relate to curriculum, course development and delivery, as well as necessary reporting and assessment associated with online education.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Design and develop high quality, engaging content across various platforms, including E-learning modules, videos, interactive activities, and course assessments.
  • Work closely with subject matter experts and faculty to create content that aligns with educational standards, learning objectives, and student requirements.
  • Lead instructional design projects from concept to delivery, ensuring timely completion, quality control, and adherence to budgets.
  • Analyze the effectiveness of instructional content through data collection and feedback; implement improvements and updates as needed.
  • Utilize various e-learning tools and Learning Management Systems (LMS) to develop and deliver digital content.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including graphic designers video producers, and software developers, to ensure cohesive, high-quality content.
  • Draft and edit content that aligns with the University's brand and voice, ensuring clarity, engagement, and accuracy.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Support University reporting and assessment responsibilities through development and submission of area reports.
  2. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning Technologies, or a related field. (Master's degree preferred).
  • Five plus years of experience in Instructional Design, Curriculum Development, or Educational Content Creation.
  • Experience in Higher Education is highly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:

  • Demonstrated commitment, knowledge, and ability to effectively engage individuals from diverse educational disciplines.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g. Canvas, Blackboard, Moodle).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Skills in organization and time management.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g. Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, etc.)
  • Familiarity with graphic design and video production tools is a plus (e.g. Adobe Creative Suites, Final Cut Pro).

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations:

None required. Evidence of membership in established professional organizations promoting content design and/or e-learning platforms preferred.

Physical Demands:

  • Light sedentary office work.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
