What are the responsibilities and job description for the Dean, College of Agriculture, Environmental and Human Sciences position at Lincoln University of Missouri?
PURPOSE:
To provide leadership and administration for the Cooperative Research and Extension programs. Serves as chief academic officer for the College. Manages its resources, and plays a leadership role in development, fundraising, recruitment, and retention of faculty, staff, and students.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Oversee academic/instructional activities. Promote faculty development.
Foster development of academic programs and their curricula.
Recommend faculty appointments, promotion/tenure and termination.
Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration and development of programs, courses, grant proposals and projects; serve as Director of Cooperative Research.
Actively engage in fundraising, recruitment, and retention of faculty, staff, and students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Earned doctorate degree form an accredited institution.
2. Administrative experience leading a program
3. Prefer at least three years of higher education leadership experience as a department chair or director.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Personal Characteristics:
Demonstrated and thorough understanding of land-grant systems.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the complexity of effort needed to work with and foster relations with under- represented audiences.
Must have excellent organizational, communication, and social skills.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel and have notable skills in processing spreadsheets.
Experience in maintaining budgets.
Ability to multitask.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light sedentary office work, with prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
