Essential Job Functions
- Assist students in being placed in on-campus and off-campus positions, internships, and career opportunities.
- Work to further develop and create new student employment opportunities across campus. Work to ensure consistent training and professional development opportunities for all student managers and employees.
- Recruit students, faculty, and employers to participate in student employment and related events; work with students to find placements related to career objectives; match student workers to jobs related to their majors; orient students to student employment program expectations and requirements.
- Coordinates processing of job requests from businesses and campus employers seeking student employees.
- Develops and presents student employment orientation sessions including overview of general learning goals, and objectives related to student employment at college, conducts training sessions for supervisors particularly on time and attendance for students and managing student employees.
- Develop and update forms, manual, orientation packets, student and supervisor handbooks.
- Work closely with Financial Aid when needed and assist Federal Work Study (FWS) student worker managers (faculty and staff) on development of position descriptions as well as job responsibilities, ensuring quality work experiences for students, which complement and enhance student academic and/or professional goals to include skills for the 21st century. The competencies for skills for the 21st century include career and self-development, communication, critical thinking, equity and inclusion, leadership, professionalism, teamwork, and technology.
- Maintains relationships with community-based programs and agencies in the region to support the development of off-campus employers to guide and/or provide other educational resources for supervisors and students as it relates to the FWS program and student employment in general.
- Develop and conduct presentations and workshops related to employment opportunities, employment skills and to promote department services.
- Assess students for employment readiness; assist students with preparing for interviews and editing employment related materials; schedule students for career advising appointments, workshops, orientations and special events; refer students to appropriate community resources.
- Primary contact for employers regarding posting jobs, hosting on-campus visits, and conducting student interviews, either on campus or virtually, answer and resolve employer issues; assist with development and implementing a student work performance assessment program.
- Plays an essential role in planning events, attending, and coordinating career fairs.
- Manages employer inquiries, maintains Handshake database management for employers to ensure employer contact information and profiles, job postings, interviews, and events are up to date and monitored.
- Expected to have a firm understanding of Handshake and will be responsible for learning all employer modules and continuing to learn new features in Handshake, including reports and analytics.
- Coordinate initial employer inquires that come in by phone or email. Examples include internships/job announcement; Handshake access requests, on-campus recruiting (informational events, student interviews); and best practices for connecting with academic units and students for recruiting purposes.
- Responsible for maintaining current and accurate employer contact information and profiles. Provides expert guidance to employers and students regarding utilization of Handshake database for recruiting purposes.
- Responsible for creating and distributing job & labor market reports to Career Center staff and by updating procedures encompassing the collection of employer engagement data for year-end reports for the team to measure outcomes.
- Regularly attend and assist in major college functions, including but not limited to Homecoming, orientation, Welcome Week, College Visitation events, Commencement, Student Engagement events, some of which may include evenings or weekends.

- 1.Bachelor's degree, preferably in education, psychology or a related field, from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
- 2. Three years' high education experience, preferably to include recruitment and career interest assessment/advising
- 3. An equivalent combination of education and/or exp.
