What are the responsibilities and job description for the CMM Programmer position at Lincotek Medical?
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
The primary functions include coordinating measuring equipment to measure dimensions of machined metal and plastic components by performing the following duties. This position is the highest level CMM Programmer.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the Major Responsibilities, including the following:
- Program Development: Create and refine CMM programs using customer-provided drawings, CAD models, and other specifications to facilitate program launches and provide support to programs in production.
- Programming Languages: Develop and optimize CMM programs using industry-standard languages such as PC-DMIS and Calypso.
- Operations Support:
- Assist CMM operators with program development, fixturing, and troubleshooting to ensure accurate inspections.
- Support CMM operators in developing programs for single-feature inspections that do not require full-component CMM inspections.
- Assist CMM operators with interpreting technical drawings and ensuring proper fixturing and setup to guarantee accurate inspections and reliable data collection.
- Analyze CMM reports with machining operators, providing insights to make informed machine adjustments, improve production quality, and reduce scrap.
- Program Optimization: Analyze existing CMM programs for efficiency and recommend adjustments to enhance reliability and reduce inspection time without compromising quality.
- Program Version Control: Maintain an organized library of active CMM programs and control shop floor access to ensure operators are using the correct and approved program versions.
- Collaboration: Attend pre- and post-production meetings to address and resolve CMM-related issues.
- Training: Provide training to operators on report analysis, CMM usage, and programming best practices.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret blueprints, including GD&T standards and ASME Y14.5.
- Production Needs: Operate CMM machines as needed to support production schedules and ensure timely inspection of components.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B. A. or B. S.) from a four-year college or university; or at least seven years' experience with CMM operation and programming.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
