ABOUT THE JOB
Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of all production equipment, including CAPS and APS Plasma Spray Machines used for titanium and hydroxyapatite coatings. The role also includes troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, PLC, and hydraulic issues to ensure the continuous and efficient operation of manufacturing processes.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Develop, implement, and perform scheduled maintenance plans for CAPS and APS Plasma Spray Machines, ensuring maximum uptime and performance.
- Maintain and repair ancillary equipment, including automatic blasting machine, compressors, dust collectors, HVAC, and other facility-related systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities align with OSHA, EPA, GMP, and ISO compliance requirements.
- Mechanical Maintenance & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair mechanical failures in moving components such as robotic arms, linear guides, bearings, and rotary turntables.
- Perform inspections, lubrication, and alignment adjustments for gearboxes, spindles, and other mechanical elements.
- Replace worn-out components, including belts, seals, and bearings, to prevent machine downtime.
- Electrical & PLC Maintenance: Troubleshoot and repair electrical control systems, sensors, and motorized components in CAPS and APS plasma spray machines.
- Maintain and repair PLC-controlled systems, including programming and debugging faults in automation software.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and troubleshoot wiring issues, relays, contactors, and VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives).
- Ensure all electrical work follows safety regulations and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Hydraulic & Pneumatic Systems: Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair hydraulic and pneumatic components, including pumps, valves, actuators, and pressure regulators.
- Maintain and adjust compressed air systems for plasma spray operations.
- Identify and resolve leaks, pressure inconsistencies, and flow restrictions in hydraulic lines.
- Plasma Spray Equipment Maintenance: Inspect and calibrate plasma torches, nozzles, powder feeders, and cooling systems.
- Troubleshoot arc stability issues and plasma generation failures.
- Maintain gas flow systems, ensuring proper mixtures of argon, nitrogen, hydrogen, or other carrier gases.
- Adjust spray parameters and inspect coating quality for optimal performance.
- General Maintenance & Facility Support: Perform general building maintenance, including plumbing, carpentry, and minor facility repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized maintenance area, ensuring tools and spare parts are properly stored and documented.
- Provide emergency breakdown support to minimize production downtime.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
- Assist in developing SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) for maintenance tasks.
- Communicate with production teams and management regarding machine status and required interventions.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering required; a Master’s degree is a plus. Significant experience in industrial maintenance, automation, or mechatronics will also be considered.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in industrial maintenance, preferably in plasma spray coating equipment.
SKILLS:
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, PLC, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and electrical schematics.
- Experience with troubleshooting industrial control systems and automation software.
POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.
