Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Pastry Chef to oversee the dessert operations at two of our beloved local restaurants. This leadership role will require you to manage the pastry and dessert programs at both establishments, ensuring consistency, quality, and innovation in every dish. As the Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for developing new dessert menus, maintaining exceptional standards, and working with the line cooks to ensure consistent plating and finished product during service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Menu Creation & Development: Design and innovate seasonal pastry menus for both restaurants, ensuring variety, creativity, and alignment with each restaurant’s culinary style.
- Production Management: Oversee the production of all pastries, desserts, and baked goods for both restaurants, ensuring consistency, quality, and efficient use of ingredients.
- Quality Control: Maintain exceptional standards of taste, presentation, and texture. Perform regular checks of all pastry items to ensure they meet the restaurant's high expectations.
- Inventory & Ordering: Manage inventory and ordering of all pastry supplies, ensuring a consistent and reliable flow of ingredients across both locations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Chefs and restaurant managers to ensure seamless communication between front and back of house. Collaborate on special events, promotions, and seasonal menus.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure that all pastry kitchen operations follow health and safety regulations, including proper storage, handling, and sanitation of all ingredients and equipment.
- Cost Control: Manage food costs and minimize waste by creating efficient production schedules and ensuring the proper storage and utilization of ingredients.
- Event Planning & Special Requests: Assist with custom dessert creations for special events, catering orders, and dietary restrictions as required by guests or restaurant events.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef, preferably in fine dining or upscale restaurant settings.
- Extensive knowledge of pastry techniques, dessert presentation, and baking methods.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Exceptional palate with an eye for detail in dessert presentation.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A passion for innovation and creative problem-solving in the kitchen.
- Culinary degree or formal pastry training preferred.
