Summary
Seeking Full-Time, Year-Round Nature Educator for new nature-based child care program in Putnam, CT. This position begins October 2024
We are expanding high quality and affordable early childhood education to families living in the Northeast Corner of CT. Our pediatricnature-based child care program serves children ages 6 weeks old - six years old.

Duties
· Lead nature-based programming outdoors across all four seasons in all weather conditions.
· Work directly with co-teacher and administrators to ensure that programs are delivered at a high level, with a focus on developmentally appropriate activities.
· Be a dynamic team member working in a collaborative education setting.
· Model professional, ethical and safe behavior for staff, volunteers, and program participants.
· When requested, maintain program properties and materials including infrastructure, gear, program materials, and bathroom facilities.
· Attend staff meetings and training's throughout the program year.
• Be familiar with and understand the OEC Statutes and regulations including the Under three Endorsement
· Carry out organized lesson plans each week created by the Curriculum Coordinator.
· Communicate with families consistently throughout the program year.
· Contribute to program curriculum and student evaluations.
Requirements
· Minimum of 2 to 3 years of nature-based teaching experience or strong passion for nature based education, the arts and sciences, or related fields
· Teaching groups of children in traditional and non-traditional settings.
· Be open minded and eager to learn from curriculum coordinator, center director and co-teachers.
· Willingness to continue education through center guests, training, workshops, and or webinars.
· Extensive knowledge of child development in order to ensure your classroom/ learning area is equipped with age appropriate developmentally appropriate toys and or learning materials.
· Excellent communication skills
· Attention to detail and organizational skills
· Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment
· Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and ability to “think outside the box”
· High level of comfort with the outdoors
· Genuine love of children, families and all things in art and nature
· Values an inclusive, holistic and community-driven approach to teaching and learning
· Able to work independently while multitasking and ensuring all students are safe, engaged, and joyful.
· Poses excellent classroom management skills
· Have incredible room awareness skills, able to monitor four children at all times.
· Capable of walking on uneven, hilly ground, through snow and cold and rainy weather.
· Capable of carrying 40 lbs outdoors.
· Minimum age of 18 years old.
• Must pass a background check conducted through the Connecticut Office of Early Childhood BCIS agency

· Training and experience with special needs and at-risk children, helpful but not required.
