What are the responsibilities and job description for the Elementary School Principal (#15) - Glenwood School (2025-26) INTERNAL ONLY position at Linden Unified School District?
Qualifications:
Hold a valid administrative credential. Experience in teaching and administration. Master’s Degree is preferable. Demonstrate an understanding of the K-4 student population, elementary school curriculum as appropriate, and overall operations of an elementary campus.
Immediate Supervisor:
The elementary principal reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel and Instruction.
Preferred Qualification:
Bilingual (Spanish/English)
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Each principal completes classroom observations and evaluations of certificated staff, as well as, supervising and evaluating classified personnel in a timely manner. Classroom observations/evaluations should focus on standards-based instruction and adherence to curriculum objectives. Additional responsibilities include:
Create and maintain Master Schedule
Determine Staffing Needs and Credentialing requirements
Provide guidance and academic counseling to all students
Provide Leadership and Facilitate Student Award Programs
Work Collaboratively with Students, Staff, and Parents to Promote a Positive School Climate
Supervise Independent Study program
Coordinate after-school programs for at-risk students
Attend all IEP’s, 504’s, and SST’s.
Complete Single School Plan for Student Achievement
Complete the School Accountability Report Card
Chair the School Site Council and ELAC advisory committee
Participate in Teacher-Parent Club Meetings and Activities
Publish Parent Newsletter on a Regular Basis
Complete mandated reports such as the R-30 and Emergency Immigrant Reports
Participate in District Management Team Meetings
Attend Monthly Board of Education Meetings
Direct, Coordinate, and Maintain the District Gifted and Talented Education Program
Testing: In coordination with the Director of Student Services and the District EL Coordinator, the principal shall facilitate, organize and monitor required State and District assessments such as STAR, CELDT, DWA and DMA. Coordinate the administration and scoring of District Benchmark Assessments. In addition, he/she will interpret test scores and make presentations to district and site staff for program improvement.
Curriculum Development and Supervision: The Principal ensures the delivery of standards-based instruction in the academic program. The principal provides support and training to all teachers for the purpose of improving classroom instruction and student achievement for all students including English Learners and Title I students.
Maintenance/Site Operations: In conjunction with the Director of Maintenance, the principal supervises, monitors, and evaluates the site custodians and maintenance custodians.
Supervision: Student safety is a priority and includes supervision and campus security. In addition, the principal develops, monitors and implements the School Safety Plan.
