Lindsey Systems, a well established manufacturing company in Azusa, is currently seeking a Chemical Technician.
Position Summary:
Controls chemical inventory, releases chemicals to production and keeps strict records of same. Measures, weighing and transporting chemicals. Maintaining acetone distillation is included in this job. Chemicals include acetone, highly filled epoxies, polyester resins, etc. This will require minimal instruction and supervision. Generally, candidate will follow predetermined work procedures. Basic knowledge in the use of measuring and weighing equipment. Requires a basic understanding of proper handling the materials used.
- Full time, non-exempt position, 40 hrs per week, M – F
- Pay range is $21.00 to $29.00 per hour depending on experience and qualifications
- This position will report to: Chemical Engineer and Director of Engineering
- An ideal candidate will have some experience in a quality control laboratory
Primary Job Responsibilities:
The position of Chemical Technician would be responsible for the following:
- The transport and storage of received chemicals used in production and R&D in and throughout the facility. Chemicals are received in drums, pails, totes, sacks, etc.)
- Perform daily and weekly inventory and containment checks of chemicals for various parties.
- Perform necessary procedures for handling, processing, and dispensing of various chemicals
- Example: Acetone recycling
- Example: refilling acetone dispensing cannisters
- Distribute chemical containers and containment units with proper hazardous material labeling.
- Participate in the emergency response teams. Requires the handling and cleaning of spills in need of immediate clean up.
- Dispensing and distributing chemicals needed in production.
- Collecting chemical samples when needed.
- Organizing empty chemical containers and managing the disposal area of any waste chemicals in a proper hygienic manner.
- Restock hazmat emergency response kits when necessary.
- Perform Hazardous Waste Generator training.
- Perform regularly schedule hazmat cleaning and hygiene for areas heavily exposed to hazardous chemicals.
Knowledge, skills, abilities:
- Forklift driving required.
- Must be able to obtain forklift Certification (We certify inhouse)
- Proper hazardous material hygiene and safety around chemicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds in weight.
- Solid Math Skills
- OSHA - HAZWOPER Training Preferred
Education and experience:
- Associates Degree in Technical Field
- Minimum 1 – 2 years work experience in related field
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $21.00 - $29.00 per hour
