Job Summary
The Director of Nursing (DON) is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care in a nursing home or assisted living facility. The ADON will assist in managing nursing operations, develop care plans, and ensure compliance with healthcare regulations. Duties
- Oversee daily nursing operations and ensure adherence to established protocols and standards of care.
- Review documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans for residents, ensuring their needs are met effectively.
- Manage nursing staff schedules, including shift management to ensure adequate coverage at all times.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to nursing staff, fostering professional development and teamwork.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to enhance patient outcomes and optimize care delivery.
- Ensure that all nursing practices align with best practices in physiology knowledge and hospice care when applicable.
- Conduct regular assessments of resident health and wellness, making necessary adjustments to care plans as needed.
- Maintain open communication with residents' families regarding care plans and any changes in health status.
Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
- Proven experience in nurse management within a nursing home or assisted living setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of documentation review processes and regulatory compliance standards.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of healthcare professionals.
- In-depth understanding of physiology as it relates to patient care and treatment options.
- Experience in developing care plans tailored to individual resident needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team focused on delivering exceptional patient care.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
