About the Position
We are seeking an experienced Real Estate Attorney to join our legal team in Austin, Texas or Chicago, Illinois. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive legal support on all real estate aspects related to the acquisition, development, leasing, financing and sale of properties for renewable energy projects. The role requires a deep understanding of real estate law, with a particular focus on renewable energy project development and financing. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented, proactive and comfortable working in a small team.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions
- Real Estate Transactions : Lead due diligence, negotiations, and closing of real estate transactions including land acquisitions, leases, easements, and rights-of-way necessary for energy project development.
- M&A and Finance Transaction Support : Lead real estate-related work in M&A and finance transactions, including title and survey review.
- Legal Documentation : Draft, review, and negotiate complex legal documents such as purchase agreements, lease agreements, title documents, and related real estate contracts.
- Risk Management : Identify, assess, and mitigate legal risks associated with real estate holdings and transactions. Provide strategic advice to minimize potential legal challenges.
- Project Support : Work closely with project development teams to facilitate site selection, development, construction, and operational phases of renewable energy projects.
- Litigation Support : Manage or oversee litigation involving real estate matters, including disputes over land rights, leases, or title issues.
