RN Supervisor | Role & Responsibilities
- Introduce, observe, and supervise new procedures.
- Consult with nursing staff regarding nursing procedures and recommend nursing policies.
- Assume administrative responsibility in the absence of other administrative personnel.
- Supervise adherence to care plans.
- Arrange for or provide resident/family counseling, if necessary, and in conjunction with Social Services.
- Participate in discharge planning.
- Conduct staff conferences, at least monthly.
- Provide information and/or resolve resident care problems.
- Identify those components of the nursing regimen, which may be delegated to allied nursing personnel and provide teaching and guidance when necessary.
- Assign, re-assign staff to meet staffing needs.
- Perform duties as listed on job description for staff nurse as necessary.
- Interpret principles of good management to nursing personnel and implement application of these principles in daily work in cooperation with other departments.
- Assess unit needs by making periodic rounds of unit.
- Supervise implementation of nursing regime for assigned resident, including evaluation and revision of regime as indicated.
- Communicate to physician, family or designated representative, condition changes occurring with the resident or significant events r/t the resident, in a timely fashion.
- Evaluate emergencies and determine emergency measures to be used; give or direct emergency treatment required by residents or personnel; notify physician in the case of accidents; complete incident/accident reports.
- Counsel/discipline nursing personnel when necessary, including verbal and written warnings, post suspension follow-up, in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Nursing and the Director of Nursing.
- Collect statistics, prepare and submit records as required, maintain accurate records and emphasize confidentiality of resident information.
- Ensure the appropriate documentation of resident assessments and conditions/events.
- Assist in establishing and maintaining good personal and public relations.
- Assess unit needs, conditions, resources, and make changes essential to delivery of appropriate nursing care services.
- Coordinate new employee orientation, including assessing skill proficiency, safety and competence in assuming responsibilities of position.
- Assess employee performance with audit tools and performance evaluation, within specific period providing ongoing feedback to employee.
- Maintain professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate the department’s work as appropriate.
- Delegate authority, responsibility, and accountability to other responsible department personnel.
- Provide leadership by being an appropriate role model to others.

Qualifications
RN Supervisor | Qualifications
- Current New York State Professional Nurse registration; preferably a B.S. in nursing. Current cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification issued by either the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
- Interest in developing nursing and management abilities and furthering education in these areas through membership in professional organizations and/or participation in workshops and seminars.
- Previous experience as a Charge Nurse or Supervisor in long-term care is preferred.
Salary : $38 - $45
