Description
Purpose of the Position
The primary purpose of the position is to provide assistance in all dietary functions as directed or instructed and in accordance with established dietary policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Administrative Functions
1. Work with the facility's dietitian as necessary and implement recommended changes as required.
2. Assure that all dietary procedures are followed in accordance with established policies.
Dietary Service Functions
1. Assist in assembly and delivery of food to dining areas.
2. Assist in food preparation as assigned.
3. Perform cleaning duties as scheduled.
4. Assist in receiving and storing food and supplies.
5. Dispose of waste according to department policies.
6. Adheres to good sanitation and safety procedures.
7. Assists in dish and pan washing as assigned.
8. Others as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed.
Physical Demands
Must be able to stand for a period of time. Job may require stooping, bending and lifting, walking throughout the facility.
Working Conditions
Works in a well lighted and ventilated kitchen. May be exposed to temperature extremes. May be asked to lift up to 30 pounds. Potential hazards are burns, cuts, falls if safety measures are not adhered to.
Education
Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education.
Experience
Sits, stands, stoops, bends, lifts and walks intermittently during the workday. Lifts at least 25 pounds. Must be able to follow orders and properly perform assigned tasks. Experience in food service preferred, but not essential. Stable work history. Must be able to read, write and speak English. Must work well with other dietary employees. Must be in good physical and mental condition.
Qualifications
