This role is ideal for a technician experienced in Material Handling Equipment (MHE) repair, facilities maintenance, and industrial ammonia refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will be computer-savvy, comfortable working in cold storage environments, and capable of performing maintenance at various heights.
This position is critical in ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our warehouse operations. The technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing equipment, refrigeration systems, and facility infrastructure while adhering to company safety policies and industry regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on Material Handling Equipment (MHE), including conveyors, forklifts, and automated systems.
- Diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial ammonia, Freon, and CO₂ refrigeration systems to ensure optimal operation.
- Conduct troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of electrical components, motors, wiring, and controls per electrical codes and standards.
- Maintain, repair, and inspect building infrastructure, plumbing, and mechanical systems to ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements.
- Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to log all completed work and track maintenance tasks.
- Monitor and oversee contractors working on refrigeration and other maintenance projects, ensuring adherence to company safety policies.
- Operate scissor lifts, boom lifts, and other motorized equipment when working at heights for inspections and repairs.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and regulatory standards to maintain a secure working environment.
- Assist with maintaining accurate documentation of inspections, maintenance activities, and equipment performance reports.
- Participate in periodic testing and inspections to ensure refrigeration and facility systems meet design specifications.
- Work collaboratively with operations and engineering teams to ensure continuous improvements in equipment reliability.
- 3 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, including warehouse, processing, or manufacturing equipment.
- 2 years of experience working with pneumatics, hydraulics, and electrical systems (for automated sites).
- 2 years of experience in industrial refrigeration (ammonia, Freon, and/or CO₂) OR a combination of experience and trade school.
- Refrigeration Operator 1 (CARO) certification or equivalent is a goal within 6 months of hire.
- Basic electrical and instrumentation troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to read and interpret Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID) preferred.
- Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, CMMS experience preferred).
- Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical audiences.
- Must be comfortable working in cold storage environments (-20°F/-25°C) and heights.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs. and work in high-noise environments when required.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends, based on operational needs.
- Working at Heights certification or experience with fall protection regulations is a plus.
