Job Summary: The High School Athletic Trainer is responsible for delivering comprehensive athletic training services to student-athletes. This role focuses on injury prevention, assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation, working closely with coaches, athletic staff, parents, and healthcare professionals to ensure a safe and effective athletic environment. This position will also offer care to middle school athletes during athletic training room hours and onsite middle school tackle football games.
Key Responsibilities:
- Injury Management: Assess, diagnose, and treat athletic injuries. Provide immediate first aid and develop treatment plans including physical therapy and rehabilitation exercises. Maintain detailed and confidential records of injuries and treatments through an EMR.
- Rehabilitation: Design and manage rehabilitation programs for injured athletes. Monitor progress and adjust plans as needed. Educate athletes and parents on injury prevention and recovery techniques.
- Collaboration: Work with coaches and staff to implement injury prevention and management strategies. Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and medical professionals regarding injuries and recovery plans.
- Administrative Duties: Manage ATR medical supplies and maintain organized records. Ensure compliance with regulations and contribute to policy development. Participate in staff meetings. Coordinate Sport Medicine student program.
- Event Coverage: Offer medical support during practices, games, and tournaments. Travel with teams for away games as needed. Traveling with the football team is required.
- Conduct and teach CPR/AED and First Aid classes for coaches and athletic staff through the American Red Cross
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from CAATE program (Master’s preferred).
- Certified Athletic Trainer (ATC) through the Board of Certification (BOC). DO NOT APPLY IF NOT CERTIFIED BY THE BOC.
- State licensure or certification as required.
- Current CPR/AED certifications.
- American Red Cross Instructor or ability to complete prior to start date.
- Two years of athletic setting experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience with high school-aged athletes preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to athletic training and assist injured athletes.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends for athletic events.
Contract Term:
- 11 month contract, May be renewed annually
Salary : $60,000 - $65,000
