Requirements
What you would do:
- Welcoming/greeting, escorting and accompanying patients to exam room, providing gowns if necessary, making them feel comfortable, obtaining and documenting vital signs, height and weight, pertinent health history, and preparing room with supplies and equipment.
- Ensuring all pertinent current and past patient health information is able in chart for provider to review, and confirming all records (office notes, labs, diagnostics reports, treatment plans, etc) are available prior to patient encounter.
- Maintains strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and policy, including avoidance of any discriminatory behavior toward patient.
- Prepares treatment and procedures room for patients, including supplies and necessary equipment, and assists provider as needed with patient care.
- Responsibility for keeping all exam/procedure rooms stocked with necessary supplies, instruments, equipment, while maintaining sterilization and infection control as outlined in appropriate policies. This includes cleaning and disinfecting rooms after each patient encounter to ensure a healthy and safe environment, by establishing and following standards, policies and procedures (i.e. blood borne pathogens), and disposes of all contaminated supplies properly, complying with legal regulations.
- Places orders for inventory stock if appropriate.
- Performs quality control testing per protocols and maintains all logs and records.
- Performs certain procedures such as drawing blood, EKG testing, removing sutures, dressing changes, etc, after proper training and verification on competency level.
- Administers certain medications (charts name of medication, dose, route) as ordered by provider, and documents patient tolerability and any potential adverse side effects. Provides verbal and written instruction of the medical to patient for their reference.
- Educates and provides discharge instructions (verbal and written) for patient, along with answering any associated questions the patient may have on the instructions. Ensures understanding of instructions, and documents accordingly.
- Assists with ensuring all patient forms are completed/filled-out appropriately, providing instruction and answering of questions where needed.
- Performs any other assigned or requested duties, and the company reserves the right to add, change and update responsibilities at any time.

- Completion of a required Medical Assistant Program.
- Pass the Certified Medical Assistant exam and maintain credentialing.
- 1-2 years of experience is recommended.
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR), adequate computer and typing skills.
