Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a Cybersecurity Technician to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY
This role plays a key role in supporting the organization's cybersecurity initiatives by monitoring systems, responding to security threats, and helping implement security measures. This position involves hands-on technical tasks aimed at safeguarding the organization’s information assets and maintaining the integrity of its IT infrastructure.
REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduation or other equivalent (General Educational Development, foreign equivalency, etc.) and, two (2) years of college courses in computer science or information security from an accredited college or university; and, two (2) years of experience supporting/operating telecommunications and networking security, application and systems security, application development security, user authentication and authorization management, information systems vulnerability assessment, and physical data security, with supervision of technical staff
OR Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field
- Fundamental knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and security practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with the ability for identifying issues and offering solutions.
- Effective communication skills, able to explain technical information clearly to non-technical staff.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Familiarity with security tools and technologies, including antivirus software, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience with SIEM tools or security monitoring platforms.
- Knowledge of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and their security settings.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity-related regulatory requirements and compliance standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor security alerts and notifications from security tools, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
- Assist in identifying and escalating potential security incidents or anomalies for further investigation.
- Participate in the response to security incidents, helping to identify the nature of the incident and gathering relevant information for analysis.
- Document incidents and actions taken to ensure accurate records for future reference.
- Assist in the configuration, installation, and maintenance of security tools and software, ensuring they are up-to-date and functioning properly.
- Perform routine checks and audits on systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend necessary updates.
- Provide technical support to employees regarding security-related issues, including password resets, access controls, and phishing attempts.
- Conduct training sessions or workshops to educate staff on cybersecurity best practices and awareness.
- Maintain accurate records of security incidents, system configurations, and updates to security policies and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of reports summarizing security incidents and vulnerabilities for management review.
- Work closely with the cybersecurity team and IT department to support the implementation of security initiatives.
- Collaborate with other teams to ensure security measures are integrated into all aspects of the organization’s operations.
- Stay current with the latest cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies.
- Participate in training and certification programs to enhance skills and knowledge in the cybersecurity field.
