Link Technologies (LinkTechConsulting.com), a Las Vegas-based IT consulting firm, is currently seeking a Data Visualization Analyst to join our team.
JOB SUMMARY
This role will help design and develop interactive data visualizations using tools and software packages to support data-based decision-making.
REQUIREMENTS
· High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., General Education Development (GED), foreign equivalency, etc.).
· Five (5) years of professional experience working with enterprise databases (e.g., MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server) to create reports, data visualizations, or business intelligence solutions; OR, an Associate degree in a related field (e.g., computer science, computing and information technology from an accredited college/university, plus three (3) years of relevant experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college/university, along with one (1) year of relevant experience.
· One (1) year of experience writing SQL queries, functions, and stored procedures.
· One (1) year of experience creating reports, data visualizations, or Business Intelligence (BI) solutions using a commercial toolset or scripting language.
· Proficient in writing SQL queries, including the use of aggregate functions and group by/having clauses.
· Skilled in creating SQL stored procedures using PL/SQL or T-SQL.
· Experienced in developing ETL procedures using commercial tools or SQL stored procedures.
· Capable of designing data visualizations through commercial toolsets or scripting languages.
· Adept at translating end-user functional requirements into clear problem statements and actionable solutions.
· Proficient in providing end-user support via phone, email, and face-to-face interactions in small group settings.
· Committed to staying up-to-date with the latest technologies and applications.
· Detail-oriented in ensuring data accuracy to the highest degree possible.
· Collaborative team player, working effectively with coordinators, analysts, database administrators, and other personnel.
· Knowledgeable in common database, spreadsheet, word processing, and student information system (SIS) software.
· Capable of learning and applying relevant policies, procedures, laws, and regulations.
· Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines.
· Effective communicator, both verbally and in writing.
· Possesses the physical and mental stamina required for the demands of the role.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in Computer Science (CS) or Management Information Systems (MIS).
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Works directly with school and central office administration to gather functional requirements; works with departmental team to synthesize final functional requirements.
· Structures, develops, and programs interactive, dynamic data visualizations (i.e., charts, graphs, tables, etc.) to meet end-users’ functional needs.
· Develops/conducts quality assurance checks to test, validate, and evaluate department data visualizations for accuracy, performance, and alignment with end-user requirements.
· Identifies functional data stores needed to fulfill data visualization needs; creates Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) procedures necessary to access data stores in data visualization toolsets.
· Resolves end-user inquiries in a timely, professional, proactive manner.
· Writes requirements, specifications, data dictionaries, self-documenting code, and other documents according to documentation standards.
· Writes end-user documentation including procedures and instructions; assists end-users in implementing new/modified programs and applications.
· Designs and provides training to school staff/administration on the use, manipulation, and analysis of interactive data visualizations.
· Monitors, analyzes, and reviews the use of data applications; recommends improvements to data applications’ design and delivery.
· Maintains effective communication with customers throughout application development.
· Conforms to safety standards, as prescribed.
· Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.
