General Responsibilities / Job Summary:
- Underwrite new and renewal commercial loan requests with a focus on profitability and risk mitigation.
- Handle complex credit structures with minimal supervision.
- Serve as a technical expert in specialized underwriting fields (e.g., Commercial & Industrial, Commercial Real Estate).
- Demonstrate strong credit analysis, structure, and risk identification with minimal need for revisions.
- Produce clear, concise underwriting memos outlining deal structure, repayment analysis, collateral, and risk mitigation.
Essential Functions / Duties:
- Uphold corporate values: LIVE, INTEGRITY, NURTURE, KNOWLEDGE.
- Maintain a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and provide superior client service.
- Prepare Credit Approval Memoranda for new loan requests, modifications, increases, renewals, and reviews.
- Gather customer background information from public agencies and reports.
- Prioritize workflow and communicate regularly with the relationship management team.
- Meet deadlines to support the bank’s loan production goals.
- Maintain documentation, including ticklers, covenants, and policy exceptions.
- Join Relationship Managers on customer calls for learning and technical support.
- Identify potential problem loans and recommend appropriate risk ratings.
- Work on projects assigned by senior credit leadership.
- Assist in training new Credit Analysts and interns.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Summary
- Education/Training: High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or Economics preferred; specialized bank lending training is beneficial.
- Experience: 5–10 years of commercial loan underwriting or equivalent experience.

- Compliance with bank policies and procedures.
- Experience in managing vendor relationships.

- Travel Requirements: Ability to travel to all bank locations as needed.
