What are the responsibilities and job description for the Equity Center Student Assistant WS position at Linn-Benton Community College?
The Equity Center Student Assistant is responsible for providing administrative support for the programs and events that are promoted by the Office of Institutional Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. These activities may include but are not limited to academic, cultural, social, and community events that advance the mission and vision of IEDI and LBCC. The IEDI Program Manager provides overall onboarding, support, training, and supervision of student assistants.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- Must maintain enrollment in at least 6 credits at LBCC, achieve satisfactory academic progress throughout each term, obtain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better, and have financial aid in place to be eligible to work in a Work Study student employee capacity at Linn-Benton Community College.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Computer, Word, Excel, Google Drive. Google Slides or PowerPoint skills helpful.
- Social media and internet savvy. Basic office experience. Solid interpersonal communication skills.
Abilities:
- Must be able to communicate with faculty, staff and students and work well independently and with others.
- Ability to interact sensitively and effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) and/or cultural competency/fluency with diverse populations preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
The Equity Center is a versatile space that hosts academic, cultural, and community presentations and events. Student Assistants support the overall programming aspect including but not limited to moving light furniture around, providing support to utilize computer and projector stations, and assisting presenters and guests as necessary.
Essential Duties:
- Assists with the Equity Center reception by greeting students, faculty, staff, and visitors.
- Maintains a welcoming environment by answering questions about services and resources, answering phone calls and directing calls and/or taking messages, scheduling appointments for staff, and referring students/public to appropriate campus departments.
- Performs a variety of office and interactive tasks/duties.
- Maintains the IEDI bulletins in the Equity Center and around campus.
- Creates Google forms, Canva fliers, and surveys as requested.
- Fulfills other work-study assistant duties as assigned.
