OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST – Cascade Regional Inclusive Services

Classification: Licensed 190 day calendar

Reports to: Cascade Regional Inclusive Services Administrator

FLSA Status: Exempt

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

 

Occupational Therapists (OT) provide direct, indirect and consultative services in schools, communities and home settings. The mission of the OT program is to provide the necessary services for students who experience disabilities to access their education in meaningful and successful ways by addressing physical, cognitive, sensory and social-emotional needs through purposeful activities.  As a member of Cascade Regional Inclusive Services, this position is a part of a dynamic team of professionals who offer support to students ages birth-21, their families and their educational teams across Linn, Benton and Lincoln Counties. This role requires a high degree of knowledge, flexibility, responsibility and independence.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited program approved by the American Occupational Therapy Association is required.
  2. Master’s or Doctorate Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university is preferred.
  3. Valid Occupational Therapy license from the Oregon Board of Examiners is required.
  4. Two or more years of Occupational Therapy experience as a consultant, an itinerant provider and/or a provider to pediatric patients with physical disabilities is preferred.
  5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/ Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

GENERAL INFORMATION

 

This position has the following expectations and prerequisite abilities.

  5. Demonstrates respectful, flexible and effective teambuilding skills of cooperation, communication and active participation.
  6. Present self and LBL in a professional manner including: in oral and written communication, professional disposition when working with others and maintaining professional dress standards.
  7. Ability to understand and follow oral and written directives, find requested data and present in user-friendly formats for internal and public distribution.
  8. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings, and following schedules.
  9. Utilize teleservice platform to provide services to educators, students and district staff as directed.
  10. Ability to lift, carry at least 25 pounds.
  11. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in a vehicle or work setting.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

 

This is not necessarily an exhaustive or all-inclusive list of responsibilities, skills, and duties associated with this position. The supervisor of this position may modify this list at any time it’s deemed necessary.

 

  1. Participate in screening and comprehensive functional assessment of students with orthopedic, motor, self-help and/or sensory challenges to determine the need and scope of OT services.
  2. Participate as a specialist in the area of orthopedic impairment to determine eligibility.
  3. Participate in the preparation and implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEP) or Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for identified students to assist the educational team in the development of appropriate goals, objectives, modifications, accommodations, strategies and/or behavior plans for identified students.
  4. Provide occupational therapy services and treatments in a variety of areas including: fine motor skills, sensory processing, cognitive skills, social-emotional skills, self-regulation, environmental modifications, self-care and activities of daily living skills (including safe eating and dressing.)
  5. Prepare documentation, records and reports for eligibility evaluations, services, IEPs / IFSPs and transitions according to program procedures or as directed.
  6. Design, construct and adapt materials and equipment to provide support for children/students in the educational setting.
  7. Serve as a resource, consultant and trainer to provide specialized suggestions and/or equipment for use by students, educators and/or families.
  8. Lead in the assessment, selection, training, management, and use of assistive technology related to occupational therapy concerns.
  9. Monitor program effectiveness using observation, data collection and pre-post assessment.
  10. Instruct education staff in appropriate body mechanics, positioning, handling and mobility needs of the student to support educational goals/program.
  11. Synthesize and integrate clinical, educational and interpersonal issues regarding change, disabilities, grief and loss.
  12. Work independently with limited contact with other OT staff.
  13. Supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) as directed.
  14. Participate in the Medicaid billing process for school-based services as directed. 

 

SALARY AND BENEFIT INFORMATION

  • Licensed employees are represented by Linn Benton Lincoln Education Association
  • Salary and benefit information shown are based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) based on the current school year
  • Placement on the Linn Benton Lincoln ESD licensed salary schedule will be commensurate with applicant’s qualifications, relevant training, and experience
  • Linn Benton Lincoln ESD will provide an Insurance CAP to assist with health, dental and vision insurance premiums
  • Employer paid PERS, holidays, sick leave and personal days are also provided
  • Employer paid Life Insurance 1 x annual salary
  • Employer paid Basic AD&D and Long Term Disability
