About Design Engineer:
Performs a variety of complex engineering work at the professional level in the office under the minimal supervision of an Engineer. Performs the CAD drafting and design for all roadway construction projects with minimal direction. More complex designs include bridge replacements and modeling grading and paving projects in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Designs road, bridge, culvert, and grading plan sets using AutoCAD Civil 3D. The Design Engineer will be assigned larger and more complex projects to design.
- Ensure plan sets follow IDOT and /or SUDAS standards and specifications.
- Prepares computerized drawings, completes complex engineering calculations, and determines project quantities.
- Performs hydraulic calculations for bridge and culvert projects.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited college/university required.
- PE License required.
- Certified as a Program Manager and/or Team Leader meeting National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) preferred.
