CLASSIFICATION TITLE: Juvenile Detention Worker II (Classification #611) UNION REPRESENTED
Juvenile Detention Association; Full Time, Male Only position at the Linn-Benton Juvenile Detention Center
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
-Comply with department and county policies, procedures and regulations,
-Visually and audibly supervise juveniles in a corrections setting,
-Perform intake duties, conduct searches, interview juveniles,
-Process admission and release of juveniles, prepare paperwork, prepare juvenile evaluations,
-Distribute meals, supervise showers,
-Participate in and facilitate groups and programming,
-Provide extra supervision for juveniles with special needs,
-Maintain an adequate degree of control in supervision of youth.
-Maintain a clean facility, complete minor maintenance, report issues as needed,
-Respond to emergency situations within the facility, interact to diffuse aggressive youth, maintain safety and security,
-Maintain communication with team members, be a resource to the community and families,
-Maintain CPR/First Aid certification, attend and participate in department meetings and trainings,
-Answer multi-line phone system,
-Maintain regular and punctual attendance,
-Demonstrate a positive attitude, establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, department staff and with other agency representatives,
-Maintain compliance with the Juvenile Justice Information System (JJIS) policies, standards, and procedures.
-Obtain LEDS certification within 90 days of hire.
-Work Schedule: Tues/Wed off, Thurs-Fri 1430-2230, Sat-Mon 0630-1430.
-Must have two years of college with course work in corrections or a related field; AND must have two years of experience dealing with juveniles in a detention facility, group home setting, or in working with juvenile offenders; OR any satisfactory equivalent combination of experience, education and training which demonstrates the ability to perform the work described.
-Knowledge and skill in the use of computers, Microsoft products, ability to use the Internet, learn new software.
-Should possess good assessment skills and the ability to interview juveniles.
-Exercise good judgment.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
-Must possess or obtain within 30 days of hire, a valid Class C Oregon Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record. Unacceptable driving record will disqualify potential candidates.
-Must be 21 years of age or older upon date of hire.
-Final applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, Criminal, and ODHS background check.
-Employees are required to follow both State and Federal laws regarding the use of illegal substances.
COMPENSATION: $4,477 - $5,709 Depending Upon Experience (Range 13), Salary plus generous benefits package including;
