Job Summary :
Perform as a lead laundry employee working on selected duties assigned by the Laundry
Supervisor in addition to regular laundry aide duties.

accountability necessary to perform your assigned duties.
Customer Service
- Demonstrates positive customer service when performing the role of the Laundry
Aide, with residents, family members, facility staff and medical staff.

Duties / Responsibilities :
Sort, clean, wash, dry and fold linen according to proper facility procedures.Prepare linen carts with appropriate amounts of linen for nursing personnel.Handle linen services for other departments as required.Follow all sanitation and infection control procedures.Interface with other facility departments personnel regarding linen deliveryservices and report to Supervisor.
Assist or prepare laundry personnel schedules.Report equipment problems to the Supervisor.Sort and separate old worn linen, complete monthly linen inventories and notifiesSupervisor of replacement linen needs.
Prepare special linen packets and monitor linen on the floor for quality.Report any problems to the supervisor.Maintain good communication between the Laundry Department and Supervisor.Staff Development :
Attend and participate in educational activities, in-service training, and staffmeetings.
Assist in orientation and training other staff.Safety and Sanitation :
Comply with, support and enforce Company policies involving all safety andinfection control procedures to include the proper equipment
Follow all established safety procedures and precautions when handling suppliesand equipment
Maintain supply and storage rooms in a safe, clean and orderly condition.Clean and check equipment as indicated / necessary.Report all incidents / accidents, no matter how minor, to your supervisorimmediately.
Report all unsafe / hazardous conditions, defective equipment, etc., to yoursupervisor immediately.
Ensure that work / assignment areas are clean and equipment, tools, supplies, etc.,are property stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of workday, etc.
Keep your work area(s) free of hazardous conditions, i.e., detergent spills, excesssupplies, equipment, etc., to assure that all established safety rules / regulations
are followed at all times.
Follow established policies and procedures concerning infection control whendoing the laundry.
Ensure that department personnel follow established procedures governing theuse of labels and MSDSs.
Report missing / illegible labels and MSDSs to the safety officer or other designatedperson.
Equipment and Supply Functions :
Report equipment malfunctions or breakdowns to your supervisor as soon aspossible.
Ensure supplies have been replenished in work areas as necessary.Ensure that wor1 properly stored before leaving such areas on breaks, end of workday, etc.Resident / Patient Rights
Understand, comply with and promote all rules and regulations regarding residents' rights.Promote positive relationships with residents, visitors, and regulatory a g e n t s, to includepresenting a professional appearance.
Knock before entering a residents' room.Expense Control
Keep abreast of economic conditions / situations and recommend to the Laundry / EnvironmentalSupervisor adjustments in laundry services ensure the continued ability to provide quality
service.
Required Skills / Abilities
Must maintain regular attendance.Must meet all local health regulations and pass post-employment physical examif required. This requirement also includes
drug screening, criminal background investigation and reference inquiry.Must be capable of performing the essential job functions of this job, with orwithout reasonable accommodation.
Education and Experience :
Previous experience working in a long-term care facility, preferably inenvironmental services or a laundry department
Related experience at a level necessary to accomplish the job.Must have the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions at a levelnecessary to accomplish the job.
Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents and families and toworking cooperatively with other employees.
Physical Requirements :
Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.Must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandablemanner.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses tofunction adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully
met.
Must function independently, and have flexibility, personal integrity, and theability to work effectively with resident / patients, personnel, and support agencies.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility,which include a medical and physical examination.
Must be able to relate to and work with the ill, disabled, elderly, emotionallyupset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
Must be able to push, pull, move, and / or lift a minimum of 40 pounds to aminimum height of 4 feet and be able to push, pull, move, and / or carry such
weight a minimum distance of 15 feet.
Maybe necessary to assist in the evacuation of resident / patients duringemergency situations.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Works in laundry room as well as throughout the facility.Is subject to frequent interruptions.Is subject to loud noises.Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset resident / patients, family members,etc.
Works beyond normal working hours, on weekends and holidays, and onother shifts when necessary.
Is subject to callback during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather,evacuation, post-disaster, etc.).
Communicates with the medical staff, nursing personnel, and otherdepartment supervisors.
Is subject to injury from falls, bums from equipment odors, etc., throughoutthe workday, as well as exposure to dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and
other air contaminants.
Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc.,including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses.
May be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicals.
