IT Technician

Hourly Rate: $26.00

Position Summary:

The IT Support Technician ensures the continuity of computer system services for Linwoods computer users by providing the technical expertise, assistance, and project coordination necessary to install computer software products, modify/repair hardware, and resolve technical problems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Maintains computers, network servers, and phone technology in all Linwood settings.
• Works daily with the hardware, repairing or replacing defective equipment.
• Researches software products and their applicability to the organizational environment. Recommend changes in software and hardware to improve computer capabilities.
• Installs new or upgraded software and conduct testing on new or current software.
• Diagnoses problems in computer hardware and may troubleshoot problems for users.
• Provides technical assistance and advice to users as needed.
• Works closely with service vendors to ensure continuity of service.
• Verifies that needed upgrades are installed on systems and may need to conduct periodic inventory of the computers used.
• Collects outdated equipment for recycling or disposal.
• Install new computers and attach peripheral equipment such as printers.
• Responds to requests for new or configured hardware or software and keep inventory current.
• Occasionally, new users may be required to be instructed on software or hardware, especially when major upgrades are made.
• Deploys, supports and maintains a fleet of laptops, workstations, handheld devices, and peripherals.
• May set up and support the conference rooms audiovisual equipment.
• Monitors and resolves issues with backup/recovery operations.
• May occasionally be on-call for all periods as assigned by supervisor.
• May perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree in a computer-related field preferred.
• Two or more years of experience as a computer specialist or providing desktop support.
• Experience with various handheld devices.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft server family of products.
• Must have a valid MD drivers license and an acceptable driving record as determined by criteria established by the Agencys insurance carrier and by Agency policy.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
• Regularly exposed to weather conditions during travel to and from worksites and appointments.
• Frequently required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, various forms of technology, or controls.
• Must be able to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, run, or crawl.
• Must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress.
• Must lift and move up to 10 lbs. regularly.
