ELA Teacher
Position Overview
Teachers create lesson plans and teach those plans to the entire class, individually to students or in small groups, track student progress and present the information to parents, create tests, create and reinforce classroom rules, work with school administration prepare students for standardized tests, and manage students outside the classroom, such as in school hallways, detention, etc.
Roles & Responsibilities

- Create instructional resources for use in the classroom
- Plan, prepare and deliver instructional activities
- Create positive educational climate for students to learn in the learning environment
- Meet course and school-wide student performance goals
- Participate in ongoing training sessions
- Create lesson plans and modify accordingly throughout the year
- Maintain grade books
- Grade papers and perform other administrative duties as needed
- Create projects designed to enhance lectures
- Integrate competencies, goals, and objectives into lesson plans
- Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
- Observe and evaluate student's performance
- Manage student behavior in the classroom by invoking approved disciplinary procedures
- Administer all formative, summative, and interim assessments
Preferred Qualifications, Skills, & Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Louisiana State Teaching certification in appropriate subject area (preferred)
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Must have the ability and proven ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis
- Knowledge and implementation of relevant technology
Physical Demands
Significant standing, walking, moving, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, crawling, reaching, handling/carrying, pushing, and pulling. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
