What are the responsibilities and job description for the Estimator and Project Manager position at Linx Excavation?
Linx Excavation is looking for an experienced Estimator/Project Manager to join our team.
Ideal candidate would be someone who can identify, estimate, oversee, and coordinate construction/excavation projects from start to finish. Ensure that all projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
Our company is fast growing!! We are located in Vassar, MI and serve Bay, Tuscola, Saginaw, Huron, Lapeer, and Genesee counties.
Job Duties & Responsibilities:
- Examine blueprints, sketches or building plans to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required.
- Manage and lead multiple construction projects, overseeing all phases from estimating to completion.
- Identify prospective project opportunities, estimating job costs, acquiring subcontractor and material vendor quotes.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, budgets, and ensure all resources are used effectively.
- Coordinate with internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth project execution.
- Monitor project progress and implement solutions to address any delay, cost overruns, or issues
- Conduct regularly site inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control, and project specifications.
- Maintain regular communication with clients, providing updates and addressing any concerns or issues.
- Approve project deliverables, including work completed by subcontractors and material purchases.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, environmental standards, and company policies.
- Prepare reports and updates on project performance, including financials, timelines, and key metrics.
- Negotiate and procure contracts with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to secure favorable terms.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management or civil engineering or a relevant field is preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
- 5 years of experience managing construction projects, preferably in excavation, site development, or utility installation.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites as required.
- Strong knowledge of construction processes, materials, and regulations.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details.
- Solid understanding of construction contracts, drawings, and specifications.
- Proficiency in project management tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and OSHA standards.
