Overview
LINX/NEOC Resident Assistants support international staff in their transition to camp and residence hall life at Lasell University dormitories. Within this live-on position, RAs oversee move-in and move-out logistics, serve in an active on-call rotation to respond to emergencies, enforce policies, and foster a safe and supportive living environment. They build connections with residents, facilitate conflict resolution, and collaborate with camp leadership to address well-being and safety concerns.
Job Responsibilities
-Assist international residents with transition to camp and residence hall life.
-Foster a supportive environment for the residential community
-Oversee move-in and move-out of staff including:
-Setting up rooms with bedding, towels, door decorations, and welcome bags
-Organizing airport pickup and welcome
-Checking rooms upon staff move out
-Creating RA bulletin boards in each building
-Serve in an active “on-call” rotation. This includes, but is not limited to:
-Responding to calls which may include crisis and lockouts
-Documenting incidents and alleged violations of policy
-Collaborating with Lasell University campus partners
-Engaging with members of the residential community
-Following protocols for emergency scenarios
-Taking on an active/leadership role for emergency and crisis response
-Ensuring staff have returned for curfew
-Running weekly dorm meetings on Monday nights
-Serve as a knowledgeable resource on LINX/NEOC policies as well as relevant state and federal laws
-Maintain the safety and general well-being of residents including checking in on ill staff and accompanying them to urgent care if needed.
-Connect with residents to ensure well-being and demonstrate discretion when dealing with resident issues.
-Maintain professionalism when working with individuals of many different ages, national origin, and backgrounds.
-Provide and encourage opportunities for social and cultural learning (e.g., host nights, dorm activities, weekend trips)
-Enforce camp and residence hall policies.
-Communicate with Resident Director, Counselor Care, and camp leadership team regarding safety and healthy issues as appropriate, resident needs, and violations.
-Facilitate resolution of disagreements between residents, living facilities, and other camp staff.
Qualifications & Compensation
-Must be available to work May 29 - August 15th or 30th or as otherwise stated within contract.
-Ideal candidate will have experience working as a RA in a college or similar setting and will be 21 and older as the position may occasionally deal with situations regarding alcohol and/or marijuana.
-Primary work hours are evenings and weekends, including an on-call rotation.
-Stipend range of $3,500 to $4,000
-Single room, dorm housing and university meals included.
-Live-in is a required aspect of this position while on call at Lasell University in Newton, MA.
