The Quality Improvement Engineer will be responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and performance in the manufacturing process of custom turnout gear for first responders. This role involves analyzing production processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing solutions to ensure the highest quality and safety standards.
Essential Functions
- Process Analysis: Evaluate current manufacturing processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance product quality and manufacturing efficiency.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Quality Metrics: Establish and monitor key quality metrics to track performance and identify trends.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including production, engineering, and supply chain, to drive quality improvement initiatives.
- Training: Provide training and support on quality improvement methodologies and best practices as needed.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive documentation of quality improvement activities, including process changes and results.mm
- Compliance: Ensure all quality improvement initiatives comply with relevant safety standards, such as NFPA 1971 for structural firefighting gear.
- Supplier Quality Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure the quality of incoming materials and components.
- Must promote and follow LION’s core beliefs.
- Develops/maintains a thorough and consistent line of communication with all applicable departments within LION.
- Other duties as needed.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field with Quality experience. Additional certifications in Quality are a plus
- Minimum of 3 years experience in quality improvement process engineering, preferably in the manufacturing of protective gear or similar product
- Strong understanding of quality improvement methodologies, such as Lean, Six Sigma, and Kaizen
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills, including the capability to work across multiple functions and with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills. Experience with PowerBI is a plus.
- Fosters a climate of continuous improvement throughout the organization.
- Ability to adapt quickly to new situations, changing processes, programs, and services.
- Microsoft Office skills
- Standing, sitting, walking, as needed.
- Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges with or without correction.
- Using proper lifting technique may be required to lift objects up to 30 lbs.
- Displays ambitious, positive attitude.
