Position Title: General Manager of Dining Services

Job Summary: General Manager of Dining Services is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of food service operations within an organization. This role includes overseeing meal preparation, ensuring food quality, maintaining health and safety standards, managing staff, budget, and inventory, and providing exceptional customer service to meet the needs of the dining facility’s patrons.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Lead and manage the dining services team, including chefs, cooks, servers, and support staff.
    • Develop training programs for new and existing staff to ensure high service standards.
    • Foster a collaborative and productive work environment focused on efficiency and excellence.
    • Schedule staff and manage labor costs effectively.
  • Food Quality & Safety:
    • Ensure food preparation and service meet health and safety standards, including compliance with food safety regulations.
    • Oversee food quality, presentation, and consistency, ensuring customer satisfaction.
    • Maintain proper sanitation and cleanliness standards within the kitchen and dining areas.
  • Menu Planning & Nutritional Management:
    • Develop and update menus, ensuring a diverse range of healthy and appealing options.
    • Work with nutritionists or dietitians to create balanced, nutritious menus that meet the dietary needs of all patrons.
    • Implement seasonal or special dietary menus as needed (e.g., for allergies, cultural preferences, or dietary restrictions).
  • Budgeting & Financial Oversight:
    • Manage and oversee the dining services budget, including tracking expenses and revenue.
    • Order and manage food and supplies inventory, ensuring cost-effective purchasing practices.
    • Control food waste and implement cost-saving measures to ensure profitability.
  • Customer Service & Satisfaction:
    • Ensure excellent customer service is provided in all dining settings.
    • Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
    • Work closely with other departments to provide a positive dining experience for all patrons.
  • Compliance & Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local health and safety regulations related to food service.
    • Prepare and maintain accurate records for inspections, audits, and reporting.
    • Regularly assess dining operations for efficiency and effectiveness, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Technology & Systems:
    • Utilize technology to streamline operations, including ordering systems, inventory management, and payroll.
    • Stay current on trends in the food service industry and implement relevant technologies or practices.
Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in food service management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety regulations, menu planning, and inventory control.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Budgeting, financial management, and cost-control experience.
  • Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certification in food safety or a related field.
  • Experience in managing dining services in Senior Living environments, large institutions, hospitals environments.
  • Proficiency with food service management software.
  • Knowledge of Kosher Dietary Laws

Working Conditions

  • Hours may vary depending on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
