Schedule and Pay
- Position works 7 12 hour rotating shifts every 2 weeks
- Shift differential paid
- $18.80 - $21.10 per hour
Position Purpose
The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator’s primary responsibility is the packaging of outgoing shipments and receiving incoming tissue from Lions World Vision Institute (LWVI) branch locations and partner organizations. In addition, the Shipping and Receiving Coordinator will perform basic laboratory and distribution functions including laboratory maintenance, data entry, handling of tissue, along with the processing of various types of paperwork. These tasks will be in accordance with Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Good Tissue Practices (GTP’s), Eye Bank Association of America (EBAA), and other state and federal regulatory bodies, and LWVI’s Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This position may be required to work a rotating schedule to include weekends.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop knowledge of EBAA, FDA and LWVI policies and procedures
- Responsible for the receiving of incoming tissue and bloods and entering necessary information into database
- Responsible for the receiving, packaging and shipping of Ocular tissue for transplant
- Clean/maintain/restock Transplant Laboratory
- Assist with the uploading of tissue to internal and external websites
- Verify the integrity of shipments and all associated paperwork
- Receive, inspect and label tissue in quarantine from branch and contracted offices
- Evaluate and document receipt conditions and enter information into internal systems
- Document and communicate unsatisfactory package receipt conditions as needed
- Perform all job functions in accordance with applicable state and federal regulations, Eye Bank Association of American Medical Standards, and LWVI standard operating procedures
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment
The work environment described here are representative of those employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is exposed to a laboratory-like environment and office like-environment. Open discussions about donor health and circumstances of death occur throughout the day.
Equipment required for this position include but are not limited to, sterile supplies that may contain latex, surgical gloves and sterile attire, standard office space and equipment, standard PC equipment, printers, telephone and headset.

The physical demands representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job include but are not limited to regularly required to sit, stand, talk, see and hear; needing to possess conversational hearing, with or without aid, as well as adequate vision; required to possess dexterity to operate standard office equipment; occasionally required to lift 25 pounds or more.
