The Housekeeping Aide is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of resident rooms, common areas, and other parts of the healthcare, long-term care, or assisted living facility. The Housekeeping Aide ensures that residents, staff, and visitors enjoy a clean and safe environment by following established cleaning protocols. This role is vital in promoting a welcoming and hygienic atmosphere for everyone in the facility.
Key Responsibilities:

Cleaning and Sanitation:
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, and other areas as assigned.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, dust, and disinfect surfaces to ensure cleanliness and prevent the spread of infections.
- Empty trash and dispose of waste according to facility protocols.
- Ensure that floors, windows, furniture, and fixtures are kept clean and in good condition.

Laundry and Linen Management:
- Assist in collecting and distributing linens and towels to resident rooms.
- Change bed linens and make beds as needed.
- Transport soiled linens to the laundry area and ensure clean linens are properly stocked.

Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the proper use of cleaning chemicals, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Adhere to infection control procedures and report any safety concerns or maintenance issues to the supervisor.
- Ensure that cleaning supplies are stored properly and in compliance with health and safety regulations.

Resident Interaction:
- Interact with residents in a courteous and respectful manner while performing cleaning duties.
- Be mindful of residents’ privacy and personal space when cleaning their rooms.
- Assist residents with minor requests, such as moving items or delivering requested items if needed.

Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other housekeeping staff and facility departments to ensure that cleaning tasks are completed efficiently and on schedule.
- Assist with special cleaning projects, such as deep cleaning or event preparation, as needed.
- Communicate any cleaning supply shortages or equipment malfunctions to the housekeeping supervisor.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Experience: Previous housekeeping experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or hospitality setting is preferred but not required. On-the-job training will be provided.
- Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to cleanliness and sanitation.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules and instructions effectively.
- Good communication skills and a positive attitude when interacting with residents and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
