Summary/Objective

The Welder plays a key role in the production process by accurately assembling components and sub-assemblies. This involves using welding techniques to join parts or repair defective welds, ensuring high-quality results that meet specifications.

Duties And Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Assemble various components and sub-assemblies accurately using welding techniques.
  • Weld parts according to precise specifications and ensure proper fit and alignment.
  • Repair defective or damaged welds, ensuring structural integrity and quality.
  • Operate and maintain welding equipment, tools, and fixtures to ensure optimal performance.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine welding requirements.
  • Conduct quality checks to verify welds meet required standards and specifications.
  • Follow safety procedures and maintain a safe working environment.
  • Collaborate with team members and other departments to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of tasks.
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, including materials used and any issues encountered.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily working indoors, in a shop environment.
  • May stand for several hours at a time.
  • Repetitive use of hands to operate welding machinery.
  • Must wear required welding protective PPE.

Qualifications

  • High school degree or GED

Essential Functions

  • Perform welding operations to join, repair, or fabricate metal parts according to technical specifications and blueprints.
  • Ensure all welded joints meet the required quality standards and structural integrity.
  • Operate various welding equipment (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect and measure workpieces to ensure proper alignment, fit, and dimensional accuracy.
  • Repair and rework defective welds or metal components as needed, following established procedures.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote safety and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety protocols and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize hazards.

Competencies

  • Strong knowledge and skill in various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, Stick) and the ability to interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and welding symbols.
  • Ability to consistently produce high-quality welds that meet precise specifications and standards.
  • Capable of identifying issues with welds or components and finding effective solutions to repair or improve them.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Skilled in the precise operation of welding equipment and tools, with good hand-eye coordination.
  • Works collaboratively with other welders and departments to ensure smooth workflow and optimal results.
  • Able to adjust techniques or processes to meet changing project requirements or unforeseen challenges.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple welding projects, and meet deadlines without compromising quality.

Supervisory Responsibility

This role does not have any supervisory responsibility upon hiring.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a Team Member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the Team Member is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing all day. The Team Member may have to lift and/or move items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work

This is a full-time hourly position, and hours/days of work are decided by production schedules and your reporting manager.

Travel

Travel will be minimal and would be primarily local during the business day.

Preferred Education And Experience

  • Manufacturing/industry experience.
  • 1 year with a variety of welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and Stick.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and practices in a welding or industrial environment.
