What are the responsibilities and job description for the EDGE Before & After School Site Director position at Lisle Park District?
The Site Director is directly responsible for the safety and welfare of the staff and participants at the EDGE Program. Supervises the day‐to‐day operations of EDGE program including planning and implementing daily activities, purchasing supplies, supervising staff, communicating with various external and internal groups and other administrative duties. Primary emphasis should be on safety, fun and individual growth through well-rounded and diversified recreation opportunities.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 21 years of age and have 3 years of experience working hands‐on with children; an Associate’s Degree in Education, Recreation or a related field; or equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the following knowledge, ability and skills
- Clearance of a criminal background check
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move a minimum of 25 pounds
- Must be available for AM care from 6:45-8:45am and PM care from 2:45-6pm Monday-Friday in addition to attending monthly all staff meetings and to picking up supplies weekly from the Recreation Center. The Site Director may also be required to complete paid lesson planning hours outside of program hours in order to create daily program plans in advance
Position Responsibilities:
- Oversees all day‐to‐day activities of EDGE program
- Creates a detailed daily program plan, then provides details and delegates responsibilities to Counselors including crafts, gym games, and activities
- Professionally supervises Counselors ensuring they are on‐time and well‐prepared
- Determines supplies needed, assists in securing them and maintains an updated inventory
- Effectively acts as liaison between Counselors, parents, and children to the Recreation Facilities Manager
- Routinely supervises daily participant pick‐up ensuring only authorized persons are transporting the children/participants and is aware of the safety and whereabouts of the participants at all times
- Maintains accurate participant records and updates as needed
- Follows safe work practices, reports any accidents or questionable incidents to the Recreation Facilities Manager and ensures proper use of supplies and equipment during activities
- Administers first aid as needed
- Diligently follows and adheres to all safety policies and procedures, policies in the Employee Handbook and the EDGE Staff Manual by the Lisle Park District
- Perform other duties as assigned
