Key Details:
- Staff Training: Tuesday, May 27th - Friday, May 30th
- Camp Dates: June 2nd - August 8th (no camp on July 4th)
- Hours: Monday-Friday: 8:45 am – 5:15 pm
- Extended Hours: As required
- Interviews: Scheduled for February and March
General Description: As a Summer Sports Camp Counselor, your primary responsibility will be to organize and lead a variety of sports-related group activities, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our campers. Your focus will be on fostering individual growth through engaging recreational opportunities within the context of a sports-oriented camp environment. You will report directly to the Camp Director and Recreation Manager-Athletics & Fitness.
Position Responsibilities:
- Pre-Camp Planning:
- Participate actively in staff orientation and training.
- Collaborate with Camp Directors to develop comprehensive camp activities.
- Programming:
- Plan and execute daily group activities centered around various sports disciplines.
- Assist in planning and implementing special sports programs under the guidance of Camp Director.
- Supervision:
- Supervise and actively engage in sports activities.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of campers during all sports activities and outings.
- Administration:
- Promptly report any issues or concerns to Camp Director.
- Complete accident forms as required.
- Submit weekly program plans by the designated deadline.
- Attend and actively participate in weekly staff meetings.
- Public Relations:
- Maintain a professional demeanor at all times.
- Build positive relationships with parents and campers.
- Provide a warm welcome to parents and campers on a daily basis.
- Health and Safety:
- Administer first aid when necessary.
- Obtain First Aid and CPR & AED certification before camp commences (training provided if necessary).
- Adhere strictly to all Covid-19 policies and procedures.
- Supplies/Equipment/Facilities:
- Ensure the proper use of sports equipment and supplies.
- Report any damages or issues with equipment promptly.
- General:
- Commit to working for the entire duration of the camp, including one week of training.
- Adhere to all camp policies and procedures.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Possess the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Lead and actively participate in children's sports activities both indoors and outdoors.
