Overview

Duties of the Financial Controller includes managing accounting records, ensuring compliance with regulations, overseeing accounting operations, analyzing financial data, monitoring expenditures, coordinating auditing processes, and ensuring accuracy of financial information for a multi-national entity.

The position requires strategic planning and exceptional numerical proficiency to aid our organization in maintaining positive revenue and financial growth, formulating sound financial strategies, implementing proper internal controls, achieving organizational targets, and developing financial plans that support organizational strategy.

The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, exceptional critical thinking skills, a flair for numbers, be highly organized, and have excellent leadership skills. The noteworthy Financial Controller should streamline our accounting functions and operations, provide financial analysis and reports, train staff on business finance issues, promote regulatory compliance, and drive fiscal performance.

Key Responsibilities 

• Lead, mentor, and develop team members; conduct 1:1 meetings, weekly or bi-weekly, performance reviews, and provide feedback.
• Help develop, align, and implement departmental strategies and meet the team’s goals and organizational objectives.
• Monitor daily operations for efficiency and effectiveness and manage budgets and resources.
• Lead projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely and on budget.
• Prepare and present reports to senior management and analyze data for improvement.
• Consult with departments, vendors, and customers and represent their departments in meetings.

Specific Responsibilities

• Development, analysis, and interpretation of statistical and accounting information to appraise operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
• Oversee the production of periodic financial reports; ensures that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or international financial reporting standards.
• Evaluate the performance of personnel in the accounting and operations departments. Recommend training requirements to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives and may recommend that personnel be hired or removed from the Department.
• Maintains the company's system of accounts and keeps books and records on all company transactions and assets.
• Coordinates and directs the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts; reports significant budget differences to management.
• Institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures (including the cost accounting system) and analyzes and reports variances.
• Works with external auditors and provides needed information for the annual audit.
• Responsible for tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, sales, and other applicable taxes. Files monthly, quarterly, and annual reports as required.
• Furnishes weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual internal reports, revises and updates reports to be more useful and efficient and furnishes external reports, as necessary.
• The Controller has the final responsibility for providing effective financial controls for the organization.

Qualifications / Requirements:

• BA/BS Degree in Accounting or Finance.
• CPA certification preferred.
• Upholds integrity, honesty, and ethical standards.
• Understanding of industry trends, regulations, and best practices, as well as experience in the AV and/or technology industry.
• 7 years of experience in corporate financial management role
• 7 years of experience with manufacturing-based ERP systems
• Proficiency in current technologies to streamline processes and enhance productivity.
• Experience with international business accounting including inter-company consolidations.
• Willing and able to travel to international business locations.
• Experience with mergers and acquisitions a plus.
• Experience with Sage ERP and Salesforce CRM a plus.
