Overview: Listerhill Credit Union is a financial cooperative whose primary purpose is to help our members live financially healthy lives. In 1952, seven Reynolds Metals employees deposited $5 each with the idea of starting a credit union that was member-owned and member-focused. Helping co-workers break from predatory lenders to borrow affordably and save for their financial futures, was their motivation. We have grown from a single office at Reynolds Metals to 18 branches throughout northwest Alabama and south-central Tennessee. Today, we serve 13 counties with a full line of financial solutions. The Role: Your efforts and ultimate successes should be measurable and recognizable as you strive daily within LCU’s vision: “to value people over profit, proactively seek improvement, work passionately, exceed expectations, and make our community a better place”. You will assist members with their consumer lending needs; analyzes loan requests and makes credit decisions based on lending policy.
What you will do:
- Interview member loan applicants to develop information concerning their loan needs, earnings, and financial condition
- Analyze current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money
- Establish the terms and conditions of an approved loan and review them with the member
- Explain loan programs to members, evaluate their needs, and recommend loan options
- Prepare and/or review all loan documents for completeness and accuracy
- Participate in sales development activities
- Authorize release of collateral on existing loans, charges in loan terms, waivers of payments, due date changes, etc.
- Follow current loans to ensure compliance with terms and coordinate with collections
- Sell agreed upon volume of insurance products
- Maintain a professional, courteous, and friendly atmosphere for members and co-workers
- Open basic accounts as needed
- Maintain a dependable record of attendance and timeliness
- Troubleshoot and resolve member and internal inquiries in a timely, friendly, and accurate manner
- Ensure all documentation is completed with an agreed upon accuracy rate
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Three to five years of similar or related experience
- Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job
- Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for purposes of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to spend time writing, typing, speaking, listening, lifting (up to 50 pounds), sitting for long periods of time (up to eight hours), pulling, walking, standing, squatting, kneeling, and reaching
- Some travel may be necessary; mileage paid at IRS rate
- Strong communication skills
