Overview
We are seeking an experienced and results-oriented Business Manager to train alongside and eventually replace a retiring staff member. This position is responsible for overseeing the day to day business and financial operations of the Club; works closely with, and reports to, the Club President and Treasurer.
Primary duties include:
- Oversee/manage the accounting function at the Club; includes accurately recording/maintaining the Club's financial transactions for each business unit, a/r, a/p, payroll, commercial and employee insurance/benefits. Manage monthly and annual profit and loss statements, analyzing financial data to make informed decisions and recommend improvements. Work with and oversee external partners (e.g., auditor/accountant).
- Organize and produce financial statements and supporting detail/reports for management as requested.
- Ensure Club's compliance with all federal, state and local business and employment laws, regulations and tax obligations.
- Prepare the annual operating budget in partnership with the President, Treasurer and Board Chairs, including follow-up forecast updates.
- Work with management to proactively implement and update the multi-year strategic capital plan and initiatives, ensuring timely delivery of projects within budget.
- Implement process improvement strategies to enhance operational efficiency, including recommended changes to current policies and practices.
- Collaborate with all Club business teams to align resources and optimize performance and successful delivery of services to Club members. Be available to answer member questions re: billing and general questions about Club operations.
- Manage and oversee the implementation of all club management software.
- Manage the Administrative Assistant, delegating select department duties as needed
Requirements
- B.A. in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration; CPA required. Seven or more years of professional accounting experience with some employee management/coaching. Experience working in a private club environment and/or hospitality sector preferred.
- Strong leadership skills and proven ability to supervise and motivate staff and co-workers.
- Proficiency in project management methodologies.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proficiency using office/business software programs; experience using POS systems a plus
- Ability to analyze data and make data-driven decisions.
