Director of Special Education

The Director of Special Education is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing and advancing special education services across 16 schools in Litchfield Elementary School District. This role ensures that all students with disabilities receive high-quality, inclusive education and the support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide visionary leadership to support inclusive practices and ensure compliance with federal and state special education laws.

• Collaborate with principals, teachers, and support staff to develop effective programs and services that meet diverse student needs.

• Oversee Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and ensure appropriate services, accommodations, and interventions.

• Lead and mentor special education teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and student-centered decision-making.

• Partner with families, community organizations, and district leaders to strengthen support for students with disabilities.

• Manage budgets, staffing, and resources to optimize student outcomes and maintain program excellence.
