What are the responsibilities and job description for the Police Officer (Certified and Non-Certified Candidates) position at Litchfield Police Department?
The City of Litchfield Police and Fire Commission is currently accepting applications for the purpose of establishing a hiring eligibility list of candidates for the position of Police Officer through February 21, 2025 at 4:00 p.m.
A, tentative testing date for non-certified candidates has been set for March 1, 2025 where candidates will complete a physical and written exam.
· Applicants must reside within 15 miles of the Litchfield Police Department upon completion of their probationary period (6 months after completion of training)
· Applicants must have the ability to furnish, upon request, a copy of the following:
o A resume
o A birth certificate
o A high school diploma/GED certificate
o Higher education transcripts
o Military service records/discharge paperwork
o A release for records from previous employers
o Any other employment related materials as requested or required
· Character, Background and Credit check shall be conducted
· Post-Offer examination shall include but not be limited to:
o Psychological Evaluation
o Medical Evaluation
o Vision Screening
o Drug Screening
Candidates must be prepared to pass the Illinois P-FIT physical test at the date of the written and physical exam.
· Applicant must be between twenty-one (21) and thirty-five (35) years of age.
· Applicant must have a valid driver’s license
Starting base pay for the Litchfield Police Department is currently $59,492.00. The department is currently in the second year of a four year collective bargaining agreement. Officers with the City of Litchfield receive base pay increases after completion of probation and after completion of 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years of service.
Newly Hired Officers are required to live within 15 miles of the center of the City of Litchfield, but may take home their official vehicles if they reside within the 62056 zip code. Our Officers currently work a 12-hour shift, working 7 days of a 14 day, bi-weekly pay period.
